Reusable coffee cups

Who uses branded reusable coffee cups?

Corporate teams hand out custom coffee cups as staff welcome packs, client gifts and conference takeaways. Universities and student unions distribute them during orientation week to reduce single-use waste on campus. Cafés and roasters sell branded keep cups at the counter, turning regulars into walking billboards. Real estate agencies, recruitment firms and insurance brokers use promotional travel mugs as high-value thank-you gifts that sit on desks for months. Event organisers include them in delegate packs at trade shows, conferences and expos, where recipients carry them through crowded halls all day. Environmental groups and councils run behaviour-change campaigns around reusable cup programs, often subsidising bulk orders to encourage uptake. Hospitality suppliers and corporate caterers offer branded coffee cups as part of sustainable workplace packages, replacing disposable stock in meeting rooms and break-out areas.

How to choose the right promotional coffee cup

Start with capacity. A 340ml to 400ml cup suits standard café servings and fits under most coffee-machine spouts. Smaller 227ml sizes work for short blacks and cortados, while 450ml and above appeal to long-black and Americano drinkers. Think about where the cup will be used. Vacuum-insulated stainless steel travel mugs hold temperature for hours and survive car cup-holders and commuter bags. Polypropylene café cups with silicone lids are lighter and cheaper, ideal for high-volume giveaways at events or retail counters. Wheat-fibre and bamboo-composite options suit eco-focused campaigns but may not insulate as well.

Handle or no handle? Handled designs feel familiar to mug drinkers and offer a clear, stable branding zone. Handleless tumblers pack tighter in bags and often feature larger wraparound print areas. Check the lid. Screw-on lids with slide closures are more secure for travel; push-on silicone lids are faster to remove but can leak if knocked. If your audience includes baristas or café staff, confirm the cup fits under standard group heads and accepts a reusable straw if that matters to your message. Decoration method depends on material. Stainless steel takes pad printing, laser engraving and full-colour wraps; plastic and composite cups suit screen printing and digital print. Materials and styles compared

Stainless steel vacuum cups deliver the best thermal performance, keeping coffee hot for three to six hours depending on wall construction. They feel premium, last years and suit high-value corporate gifts or staff recognition programs. Powder-coated finishes add colour and grip; brushed or polished steel offers a clean, modern look. Polypropylene (PP) is lightweight, affordable and available in bright colours, making it the go-to for large-scale event giveaways and promotional campaigns where cost per unit matters more than insulation. These cups often include food-grade silicone bands for grip and heat protection.

Wheat fibre and bamboo composites blend plant material with PP resin, reducing plastic content by around 30 to 50 percent. They appeal to environmentally conscious audiences and align with sustainability messaging, though they are not fully biodegradable and should be treated as durable reusables. Glass options, such as borosilicate double-wall cups, look striking and let the coffee show through, but they are heavier and more fragile, best suited to office environments rather than outdoor events. Ceramic travel mugs exist but are rare in bulk promotional ranges due to breakage risk and weight. When comparing materials, balance brand perception, budget, decoration area and the practical demands of your audience. Good Things can walk you through trade-offs and recommend styles that match your campaign goals and order volume.

Branding and print methods for coffee cups

Screen printing works well on polypropylene, wheat-fibre and some coated stainless steel surfaces, delivering bold spot colours at low cost per unit. It suits simple logos and text, with print areas typically wrapping around the cup body or sitting on one or two panels. Pad printing is common on curved or textured stainless steel, placing your logo cleanly on a smaller zone such as the front face or near the base. Laser engraving etches directly into bare stainless steel, creating a permanent, subtle mark that will not fade or peel. It works beautifully for premium corporate gifts and high-end client appreciation pieces.

Full-colour digital print and heat transfer allow photographic images, gradients and complex artwork, ideal for event branding, campaign artwork or multi-colour logos. Digital methods can cover more of the cup surface, though durability varies with material and finish, so discuss your design with the Good Things team. Debossing and embossing add texture to silicone bands or composite bodies, creating a tactile brand signature. Every Good Things order includes free artwork service and a free digital mockup, so you can see exactly how your logo will sit before production starts. The team will vectorise supplied logos, redraw low-resolution files and advise on print placement to maximise impact and legibility. Turnaround is calculated from artwork approval and payment, and does not include freight time.
