It’s Good to be green: We’ve joined 1% for the Planet with our Good Range

By Claudia Lamb

It’s no secret that our ambition at Good Things is to lead the way in the promotional product and merchandise industry as an eco leader.

Over the years, we’ve made many strides in sustainability, doing what we can to minimise harm to our planet by recycling waste, reducing unnecessary travel, and working with our suppliers to give back and donate where possible. Today, we made a significant leap towards our goal by becoming a 1% for the Planet member for our good range.

What is 1% for the Planet?

1% for the Planet is a global organisation that exists to ensure our planet and future generations thrive. Their work includes preventing greenwashing, certifying reputable giving, and providing accountability for environmental giving. In short, becoming a 1% for the Planet® member is an investment in ethical business and the future of our planet.

The collective impact of 1% for the Planet

1% for the Planet story began with Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, in 2002. Since then, 1% for the Planet members have given hundreds of millions of dollars to approved environmental partners. Over 110 countries are represented, with over 4870 business members and 7265 environmental partners are involved.

How does 1% for the Planet work?

All members commit to donating at least 1% of annual sales directly to environmental organisations; this model drives critical support to address the most urgent environmental issues. For businesses of any size, anywhere, 1% of sales—not profits—is a real and substantial commitment. As members, we give directly to environmental causes, meaning there’s no middleman between us and our environmental partner(s). 1% for the Planet certifies every donation to ensure that we all meet that commitment. For Good Things, at least 1% of all our annual good range sales will be appointed to environmental organisations through 1% for the Planet.

What it means to Good Things

We’ve always been passionate about making merch that looks good, feels good, and, most importantly, helps the Earth stay good. Aligning with an organisation that has a certified impact and creates meaningful environmental change has been a significant goal for Good Things. We’re very proud to join the collective action 1% for the Planet has created and to be a part of their global network of thousands of businesses and environmental organisations working together to support people and the planet.

We look forward to sharing this journey with you and continuing to create a greener future together.
